The update infrastructure for eScan antivirus, a security solution from Indian cybersecurity company MicroWorld Technologies, was compromised by unknown attackers to deliver tampered software updates. The malware, which is a persistent downloader codenamed PunkBoy, has been distributed to enterprise and consumer systems globally.
Google has crippled IPIDEA, a residential proxy network that was being used as a last-mile link in cyberattack chains. The disruption exposes users who enroll their devices in the network to further attack, as well as reveals how bad actors are using the service to hide malicious traffic.
