A threat actor known as Transparent Tribe is launching a fresh set of cyber espionage campaigns against Indian governmental, academic, and strategic entities with an evolving arsenal of remote access trojans (RATs). The attackers use deceptive delivery methods that include weaponized Windows shortcut files disguised as PDF documents embedded with full PDF content to evade users’ suspicion. Check Point researchers also disclosed a phishing campaign that exploits the trust associated with Google Cloud infrastructure to evade enterprise email security systems.
