What is Cloud Security?
In a cloud environment, data access is no longer restricted by a corporate perimeter and can be accessed from many different locations. This gives employees the flexibility and agility they need to do their jobs, but it can also create a wider attack surface that needs to be addressed with robust Cloud Security systems.
At the infrastructure level, cloud security includes securing physical data centers and core cloud services from cyberattacks, and maintaining uptime. At the application level, it focuses on securing the software and applications deployed in your cloud environment. It is also important to have a comprehensive incident response plan in place that includes a clear process for identifying, containing, and recovering from cloud security incidents.

Zero Trust ensures that only authorized users and devices gain access to your cloud resources by verifying identity and providing only the minimum permissions needed for a given task. This reduces the risk of unauthorized access and helps organizations to align with industry regulations like GDPR and PCI-DSS.
Other areas of concern in cloud security include secure remote access for mobile workers, securing Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) policies, and keeping track of the ever-changing state of your cloud environments with tools like continuous verification, micro-segmentation, and advanced threat detection. Additionally, it is critical to have a clear governance framework in place to manage the risks of your cloud investments, including understanding your liability for data breaches and other compliance issues.
