March 2024: Russia-linked hackers brought down the French National Assembly website for several hours in retaliation for France’s support of Ukraine. The hack also exposed details of a conversation between German military officials about Germany’s decision to not send Taurus missiles to Ukraine.

April 2023: A Russian ransomware group leaked the personal and political emails of a U.S. Congressman from Nebraska on the dark web. The attacks are part of a larger campaign targeting an Australian law firm that services multiple government agencies.

May 2023: A Chinese cyberespionage group compromised servers at telecommunication service providers across Africa in an espionage campaign that began in November of 2022. The attackers are believed to be seeking information on debt owed to China by these organizations.

June 2024: Hackers breached a U.S.-based cloud services provider, gaining access to tens of thousands of U.S. and European customers. The attackers stole a variety of data, including customer names, email addresses, financial account numbers, passwords, and more.

July 2024: Australia, Canada, the United Kingdom, Japan, South Korea, and New Zealand issued a joint warning about malicious Chinese state-sponsored cyber activity in their countries’ networks. This was the first time that the seven nations had jointly led a cyber attribution effort.

August 2024: Iranian spies attempted to infiltrate a former three-stars general by implanting a chip in his conference name tag, allowing them to track the officer’s every move during a military training exercise.
