September 2023: Hackers accessed a government network in Kuwait and used it to launch phishing attacks against diplomats. The attacks included a file supposedly with images of a used car to deliver malware that established persistent access for follow-on data theft, reconnaissance, and surveillance activities.

August 2024: Russian hackers used a variation of malware to breach multiple Ukrainian law enforcement agencies and target units collecting and analyzing evidence of war crimes. The attacks occurred around the same time as a Ukrainian missile strike against Russia’s naval headquarters in occupied Crimea.

June 2022: Pro-Russian hackers took New Zealand’s parliament and related institutions offline in a DDoS attack, in retaliation for the country’s support for Ukraine. The attack included targeting the websites of the Parliamentary Counsel Office and Legislation offices.

May 2022: Hackers attacked Greenland’s healthcare systems, making it impossible to access health records. While the attack did not expose any private information, it was severe enough to shut down all networks on the island for weeks.

November 2021: A hacker group stole intellectual property assets from U.S and European companies over the course of a year-long campaign, going largely undetected. The hacker group exploited a vulnerability in software that is used by the targeted organizations.

Researchers found Israeli spyware on the iPhones of five journalists, political opposition figures, and a NGO worker. The hackers initially compromised their targets through malicious calendar invitations.
