Every aspect of our lives relies on computers and the internet now: communication (email, social media, apps), entertainment (interactive video games, movies, TV), transportation (cars, trains, planes, and GPS navigation systems), shopping (online stores, credit cards), healthcare (computerized records), and more. But all of this technology can also be a target for hackers, who aim to destroy or steal critical information for their own gain.
A company’s reputation is often ruined when it’s hacked, and customers can quickly lose trust in brands that can’t keep their information secure. This makes it a top priority for businesses to incorporate cybersecurity into their DNA.
Despite the common perception that cybersecurity is an extremely technical field, there are many ways for students to prepare for careers in the field. The accelerated master’s program offers an opportunity for you to earn your master’s degree in just one additional year of study beyond your bachelor’s, while counting up to 6 approved credits toward both degrees. Our program is offered through the Department of Computer Science and Applied Computing, and includes three tracks to help you focus your studies: Trusted Software Engineering, Cyber Threat Analysis and Defense, and Critical Infrastructure Protection.
