From smishing attacks that target individuals into sharing sensitive information to DDoS assaults that disrupt businesses, cyberattacks are constantly threatening organizations, governments and people. But what the threats look like, who is behind them and how companies can best defend themselves against these cyberattacks is what our team focuses on at a daily basis. Signal Magazine is the print and digital publication for security professionals. The magazine provides a wealth of resources including articles, podcasts, webinars and videos for those in the cybersecurity industry.

In the latest issue, we cover a rash of breaches and attacks that affect people and businesses alike:

The BBC and BA had staff data compromised by an attack on software used by a firm that provides payroll services for nearly half of FTSE 100 companies. It’s an attack that highlights how flaws across different areas of a company’s software supply chain can leave them vulnerable to attack. A gang linked to Russia-speaking criminals is behind the attack.

Cyberattacks on businesses are at an all-time high. A cyber-espionage campaign targeting companies running critical US infrastructure may have been carried out by the hacker group Volt Typhoon, according to Western intelligence agencies and Microsoft. The US State Department has warned of possible disruption to US-Asia communications and energy infrastructure if the group continues its activity.

Apple users are being targeted by hackers using flaws in the system. The attackers have stolen email addresses, phone numbers, names and cities of residence for 137 million Canva users. They also accessed open authorization (OAuth) login tokens, but were prevented from taking user data and stealing payment or credit card details.
